I’m not sure that I would be altogether confident of the answer if someone asked me. As most of you know I have taken the literal plunge (and pedal, and asphalt) and signed up for a triathlon. I’m still a little bit intimidated by the whole notion.
I’ve talked about training for a triathlon for years; but this is the first time I think I’ve been really serious about it. The problem is as I said above; it’s intimidating. Even the “sprint” distance is such a long race. For the unitiated the “sprint” triathlon is: 0.5 mile swim, 16.5 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run (5k). Taking anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes to complete. On a side note; how insane is a sport in which a sprint entails covering 20 miles of distance?
